Mykamayonnaise (be)

A multidisciplinary artist guided by her emotions, Mikamayonnaise invites her audience to a musical and visual experience.

In parallel with her musical projects, Mikamayonnaise is presenting her first live show, a hybrid filmic essay combining documentary, fiction and audio performance.

Inspired by a trip to Japan, this live film questions the over-consumption of images and information, while capturing the paradoxes between solitude and mental excitement that are characteristic of her hypersensitivity. This sensory and experimental film is constructed like a music album.

In this project, Mikamayonnaise seeks to experiment as much with the camera as with sound and narration. Still, shots, over-exposure, slow motion, and fictionalized images reflect her critical view of a complex world, while exploring themes such as the quest for meaning. She creates invisible links and conveys a sensitivity that oscillates between gentleness and brutality, between the present and memories.

Out of all the twisted hard drive activity from PITA, General Magic, Farmers Manual etc appeared a very different kind of release. One made from a computer, but one with a softer atmosphere, cloud-like in sonic shape. This was the debut release from Japanese artist Tujiko Noriko.

Noriko’s particular synthesis of electronic abstraction, melody, voice and atmosphere has few peers as sound gently circles her mystical words morphing into a succession of emotive aural experiments framed as songs.

​

This is synthetic music with a deep human presence. The mind of a human captured wandering the fantastic realms of the internal sphere is exquisitely rendered through machines which usually prompt one to disfigure such humanistic tendencies. The warmth, serenity and dream-like environment that Noriko conjures from her tools is what makes her such a unique and outstanding artist and »Crépuscule« is an epic testament to these powers.
