Aart Strootman blends Satie's dreamy chords and Aphex Twin's warm soundscapes.
When composer, instrument maker and musician Aart Strootman arranged Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works for guitar, he discovered a surprising resemblance to Erik Satie's piano compositions. The timeless harmonies of both artists combine remarkably well and create an intimate connection between Satie's dreamy, floating chords and the warm electronic soundscapes of Aphex Twin. Strootman seamlessly weaves these elements into a project that will now premiere at DE SINGEL, in collaboration with 4DSOUND. The result is a meditative fusion of guitar sounds, Satie's work and electronic music.
The Amsterdam-based studio 4DSOUND is a pioneer in spatial audio technology and immersive sound experiences. During their first residency at DE SINGEL, they will transform the Theatre Studio into a spatial sound bath in which two surprising live concerts will take place with Aart Strootman and Helena Basilova in the spotlight.
