How do stories shape us and the roles we play? Should we resist stereotypes, no matter how seductive the game of seeing and being seen may be? What if the moth cannot resist the allure of the flame?
In Gaze, three women are exhibited in a gigantic terrarium. Trapped in a world defined by watching and being watched, they explore what role their bodies are still able, willing and allowed to play in a world where, above all, we want to be seen and loved.
In the visual dance-theatre performance GAZE, choreographer Laura Neyskens delivers a bold tribute to original sin and launches an attack on the hypocrisy of virtue. Together with dramaturg Raphaël Vandeweyer, she explores the power of our bodies.
GAZE was created as part of Inter:Action, the new artist development program of Action Zoo Humain.
