Birame's (18) artistic compass points to the peculiar sounds of icons like Björk, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Sampha. In his first gigs, he was still playing solo with electronic beats, but his desire for the energy of a live band became strong. At the Conservatory in Ghent this year, he met some talented young musicians who shared his vision. In this new line-up, Birame makes room for his love of the warmth of the piano. His influences make his songs haunting yet vibrant, with lyrics that linger after the last note.
