Flemish artist Jef Verheyen (1932-1984) is finally back home. Forty years after his death, KMSKA is opening the first major solo exhibition of this modern master in his hometown of Antwerp. A unique expo, enriched with special loans from the Yves Klein Foundation, the Uecker Archiv and the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, among others.
This expo traces the evolution of Verheyen's art, from his early ceramic experiments to his mastery of painting, through which he constantly explored the boundaries of light, dark, form and colour. New archival research shows how Verheyen bridged the gap between tradition and innovation, and how his search for the essence, in the infinite, still resonates today.
