Ozu's comedic Technicolor remake of his silent film *I Was Born, But…* follows two boys in a Tokyo suburb who take a vow of silence after their parents refuse to buy them a television. *Good Morning* is entirely filmed from the perspective of the two stubborn brothers. The parents are convinced that the silent strike will be short-lived, but gradually, they realize that they can no longer ignore their children.
A week in the life of six families living in a single building. The film observes both superficial adults and childlike craving for modern, noisy life (television!) with great humour.
Please note: there are no English subtitles for this screening. The subtitles are Dutch.
