With his unique and enchanting mix of electro, saudade, indie and folk, Ão has rapidly become one of the acts in the rich Belgian music landscape. Debut single Mulher immediately makes an impression at the end of 2022 and the influential American KEXP also enjoys it. A year later, debut album 'Ao Mar' enchants audiences and press with its summery sounds and ingenious, layered and rousing tracks such as Avó, Meninas and More. The warm voice of frontwoman Brenda Corijn intertwines Portuguese and English lyrics with the southern guitar of Siebe Chau, the ambient sounds of Jolan Decaestecker and the eclectic percussion of Bert Peyffers. Live, that becomes an experience with which Ão overwhelms countless stages and wins hearts. As the icing on the cake of a fantastic 2023, Ão wins a MIA nomination as the breakthrough of the year.

Helena Casella

Helena Casella is a vocalist with a multicultural background, who vocalizes her thoughts in her own passionate, soulful and tasteful way. She grew up in a very musical family with strong ties to the wider artistic world. This rich background is clearly audible in her musical approach in which she mixes genres such as R&B, soul, hip hop, modern jazz without breaking the connection with the colorful sounds of Brazil, where part of her roots lie.
