The new Showcase#Music lineup is taking shape! From numerous entries, a professional jury has selected 16 bands who will perform at the Zebra Café every Thursday until the end of the year. The concerts are free and open to all. We are excited to give you a sneak peek of our five favourite acts!

Kaat van Stralen is a powerhouse. With a fusion of post-punk and psychedelic soundscapes, Kaat's alternative spoken word takes listeners on a lyrical voyage through incandescent verses. Kaat (the lead singer) along Melvin Slabbinck (drums), Luca Fazioli (guitar), Faust De Vogelaere (bass) embody the perfect act with an almost therapeutic quality: after the performance, you might feel free of all your buried emotions as they have been explored right there in front of you, on stage.

Rosie Stuart is a Ghent-based musician. Her music reflects on the tragically comic aspects of existence while bringing upfront emotion and vulnerability balanced out by guitar riffs. The melancholic yet powerful notes of her voice have been described as reminiscent of Sinéad O'Connor, PJ Harvey or Patti Smith. Through her highly personal musical acts, Rosie Stuart invites people to collectively experience ways of suffering, coping and feeling better.

Loïs is a Belgian band with an ethos reminiscent of Evanescence. Their music array spans from pop, rock, hip-hop and electronic music, with beats that echo in your head long after the first listen. The songs are infused with a nostalgic feel, bridging the past and the present while still representing the needs and spirit of the current youth. On top of that, the rebellious energy of the front singer Loïs Andrews allows the band’s Dutch lyrics to gain agency and appeal like never before.

Orson Claeys Quintet

Orson Claeys is an enigmatic pianist and composer who graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. With the quintet, he dives into and honours his formative influences such as the jazz and funk pianist Herbie Hancock. While performing, Orson enters a trance-like state. At the forefront are the compositions that are strong through their softness, perpetually growing in magnitude. Expect a jazz concert that makes your mind wander (and wonder) while simultaneously bringing a sense of tranquillity and content.
