AB’s annual indoor festival is back, once again pushing musical boundaries! This edition features three guest curators, each shaping their night alongside AB’s resident curators. From ambient jazz to gabber-infused black metal, no genre is off-limits. Expect three nights of bold, genre-defying performances. Here are some must-see acts from this year’s lineup.

Anna von Hausswolff

Anna von Hausswolff, who hails from Gothenburg, curates and performs on the festival’s first night. She is known for her innovative approach to the pipe organ. Constantly pushing its expressive potential, she offers an unexpected perspective on how music can evolve and transform. Expect a performance that challenges conventions and expands the boundaries of sound.

LustSickPuppy

LustSickPuppy's performance ushers in a completely different lineup than the previous day. Curated by Backxwash, the lineup for Saturday shifts to an explosive atmosphere, and LustSickPuppy complements this in tempo like no other! Their radical electronic rage music, with hints of Death Grips combined with latex gear, won't allow a static audience!

Violent Magic Orchestra

The most unpredictable act at BRDCST this year is undoubtedly VMO. This Japanese black metal force delivers an intense, high-energy performance, immersing the audience in a whirlwind of strobe lights and theatrical corpse paint. Their raw, unfiltered energy makes them the perfect match for Backxwash, setting the stage for a night of pure sonic chaos.

Backxwash

Backxwash closes the second night on the AB Flex stage with her signature fusion of horror rap, industrial beats, and black metal-infused samples. A force of raw intensity, she rose to international acclaim after winning the Polaris Prize. Backxwash is poised to push her sound into even more daring territory with a highly anticipated new album set for release in March. Blending blistering intensity with unflinching storytelling, she continues to redefine the limits of rap and metal, promising a live performance that will be as cathartic as it is confrontational.

Tim Hecker x Francesco Donadello x Colin Stetson

BRDCST’s final day brings a refined close to the festival, curated by Colin Stetson. Showcasing both emerging talent and renowned innovators, the lineup reaches a high point with Stetson’s collaboration alongside Tim Hecker and Francesco Donadello. Hecker, a pioneer in immersive ambient composition, joins forces with Stetson’s commanding saxophone techniques and Donadello’s intricate soundscapes. Together, they create a rich, textured sound that lingers long after the last note fades.

Shida Shahabi

Rounding out our six selections is Shida Shahabi, a Swedish-Iranian pianist who seamlessly blends ambient textures with classical piano. Her delicate compositions offer a moment of calm, weaving serene melodies that captivate and transport. Even PJ Harvey has been drawn to her spellbinding sound, a testament to its quiet yet profound impact.
